Chromium — vegansk

Chromium is an important trace mineral and is used in GTF (Glucose Tolerance Factor), which regulates our bodys tolerance of sugar, and is made up of chromiun, vitamin B6 and 3 amino acids. 

Chromium also helps our body regulate a normal blood sugar level. Chromium activates insulin, which regulates the blood sugar. Sugar absorbed from our diet will cause our blood sugar level to rise, and insulin is used to regulate the blood sugar level, by enabeling our body to save some sugar for later release in the blood stream. Chromium is used in the process, and a high intake of sugars will therefore drain our body from its chromium. 

A lack of chromium can cause resistance to insulin, which is the stage before diabetes. Resistance to insulin will inhibit our bodys function to store sugars for later use, and will cause unstable blood sugar levels, with high spikes during intake of sugar. 

A diet with high amounts of sugars, is therefore likely to result in chromium deficit. 

Chromium conttributes to the following:

• maintenance of normal blood sugar level
• maintenance of normal metabolism of macro nutrients (proteins, fatty acids and carbohydrates)
