Berthelsen BetaFactor® is an ideal supplement for a perfect tan. It contains Beta Carotene which is a specific type of pigment with strong antioxidant properties, as well as Vitamin C, which helps the skin produce new collagen and protects against oxidative stress.
Beta Carotene is found in many vegetables, and is most prominent in carrots. By supplementing with Beta Carotene over a longer period, you will notice that your skin will start to get slightly more golden, which will make it easier to get more tanned, while also lessening the risk of sunburns. The effects of Beta Carotene are also used by many animals, either as protection from the sun or as color in their skin/feathers.
Berthelsen BetaFactor® does also contain Vitamin C, which contributes to:
- the creation of collagen in the skin
- the protection of the skin against oxidative stress
Start 4 weeks before sun exposure, and continue while exposed to the sun (ie during the summer period or when on a sunny holiday). BetaFactor® does not replace sun screen with SPF. Always use suitable sun screen with SPF while exposed to the sun.

Berthelsen BetaFactor is a strong combination of beta-carotene and vitamin C.
BETACAROTEN contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and protects the skin from the sun's rays. Beta-carotene is what is called 'a precursor to vitamin A', which means that it is converted into vitamin A in the body. Beta-carotene is a carotenoid, and more specifically a carotene, which is a group of yellow and red pigments. They are found i.a. in carrots, and gives them their color. When beta-carotene is consumed over a period of time, what is called carotenemia is achieved. This means that the subcutaneous tissue becomes golden, and you get a golden skin color. When the skin becomes colored, the color forms around the pigment cells of the epidermis and gives the cell nuclei in the skin a protective layer. That we get a tan is therefore a natural protection mechanism. The beta-carotene means that we get color faster, and thus it becomes more difficult to get sunburned. In addition, the beta-carotene also helps with sun eczema.
C-VITAMIN helps the skin form new collagen and protects the skin from oxidative stress. Vitamin C is necessary to form amino acids, which are part of the protein collagen. Collagen is the tensile component in both tendons, cartilage, gums, bones, hair, nails and skin. When the skin ages, the skin becomes wrinkled, which i.a. is due to the fact that the formation of collagen decreases with age, and that collagen is broken down by UV rays from the sun. Vitamin C is therefore important for maintaining the level of collagen, which is necessary to strengthen and maintain the skin. You can read more about vitamin C here .
